Badrinath, Uttarakhand: Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand has taken on a winter-white appearance after fresh snowfall blanketed the high-altitude peaks surrounding the shrine, offering devotees a striking view of the Himalayan landscape.
Snowfall overnight transformed the mountains into a white expanse, adding to the scenic appeal of the pilgrimage destination. Visitors arriving at the shrine have been taking in the snow-clad hills, even as a sharp fall in temperature and chilly winds have brought harsh cold conditions to the region.
The fresh snowfall follows the season's first heavy spell at Kedarnath Dham, where snow began accumulating from October 29, covering the surrounding hills and sending temperatures down.
The changing weather has added a wintry atmosphere to Uttarakhand's high-altitude pilgrimage sites, but visitors should be prepared for cold conditions and possible further precipitation.
CS Tomar, director of the Meteorological Centre in Dehradun, said rainfall activity was expected to continue across Uttarakhand over the next few days, particularly in the hill districts.
Speaking to ANI, Tomar said light to moderate rain was likely at several places, with the Kumaon region expected to see greater weather activity. He added that rainfall would gradually ease, although isolated precipitation could continue in the northern hill districts through November 2.
The fresh snowfall has brought a dramatic change to the landscape around Badrinath, offering visitors a glimpse of the Himalayas in their winter colours while signalling a colder spell across the region.
